Dr Denyse Snelder holds a dual position as senior specialist Sustainable Land Management at the Centre for International Cooperation of the VU University Amsterdam and as associate professor at the Centre of Environmental Sciences of Leiden University (Netherlands) where she has been the coordinator of the Philippine Programme on Environment and Development since 1994. As a PhD fellow in the early 1990s, Dr Snelder conducted research on runoff and erosion processes in the Baringo District, Kenya. Her other development and research interest are in the fields of agroforestry, grassland rehabilitation, biofuels and co-management of natural resources in tropical wet and semi-arid regions.
